Zone 2 police station closes

The Zone 2 satellite police station in the south of Bloemfontein has officially closed its doors following the end of a lease agreement with Windmill Casino.

This closure has left many residents concerned about the accessibility of police services in the area. However, the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Bloemfontein has assured the community that they are actively working on arranging an alternative solution.

While the SAPS is committed to ensuring the community remains safe, the process of securing a new location is not straightforward. The police must navigate a series of national-level procedures, including obtaining approvals for leases or entering into Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with third parties.

This ensures that all agreements meet legal and operational standards. Alternatively, residents are urged to visit the nearest police station for assistance or to report incidents.

Additionally, they can contact the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS app to report crimes or request help, alternatively call 082 466 7490.

The police remain dedicated to maintaining safety and security in Lourierpark and surrounding areas while these arrangements are being finalised.
