Young talent celebrated with award ceremony

On Saturday 7 September, the Fingerboard FC in Botshabelo marked a significant milestone with its inaugural awards ceremony, honouring the outstanding achievements of its young players from the past season. Boys and girls from the club donned their best attire to celebrate their successes and contributions on and off the field.

The founder and head coach of Fingerboard FC, Clement Litlhare, emphasised that the awards were more than just a celebration of athletic prowess. The event aimed to recognise the players’ positive impact on their community through their active participation in sports. Litlhare highlighted how their dedication serves as an inspiring example for others, reinforcing the club’s commitment to fostering both personal and communal growth.

“I hope this will instill confidence in themselves and inspire them to continue doing positive things in our society,” he expressed.

Throughout the ceremony, Litlhare emphasised the important role sport plays in a community like Botshabelo, especially by keeping children in the community grounded and committed to something to do in their free time. He encouraged parents and role models within the community to support their children where they can.

“I would like community members to not give up on the boys who are exposed to substance abuse and motivate them to be part of community activities. These boys just need somebody that believes in them so that they can instil passion and view life positively,” concluded Litlhare.
