South African Breweries is calling for entries for its annual Project Kickstart Competition. KickStart is a youth entrepreneurial programme and is aimed at youth who want to expand their existing businesses. Over the years, KickStart has become one of the largest entrepreneurship development projects run by a private sector company. The programme promotes business awareness through training, supplying grants as start-up capital, post-training mentorship and business development support.
The competition is open for 18- to 35-year-olds from previously disadvantaged backgrounds who have registered businesses currently operational. This person should have entrepreneurial flair and be committed to being successful. This innovative initiative by South African Breweries awards grants and provides mentorship to winning businesses with prizes ranging from
R30 000 to R250 000.
The programme has benefited more than 22 900 young entrepreneurs and helped starting 3 200 businesses. The South African Breweries KickStart programme is recognised as one of the leading youth entrepreneurial programmes in the country attracting thousands of applications each year.
