YCL trains young entrepreneurs

REFILWE MEKOA

The Youth Communist League in the Northern Cape Province is training young people to become service providers and entrepreneurs through economic development training.

According to the provincial spokesperson Lebo Olyn, they started today in Kimberley, De Aar and Namaqua Land. He said the programme is for young people who are interested in venturing into business. Olyn added that they will learn how to venture in various business aspects and challenges.

“These programmes are running in collaboration with the department of cooperative governance and traditional affairs and the National Home Builder Registration Council (NHBRC). We are giving accredited skills to young people to be able to become contractors. Beyond that we will also be registering them as service providers and introducing them to the construction industry,” he said.

Olyn stated that there will be many youth development programmes that will take place heading to the June 16 Youth Day celebrations that will either be held in Kimberley or De Aar. He said they will also campaign against substance abuse and give out solar geysers to child- and youth-headed households around the Joe Morolong and Sol Plaatje municipalities.

A breakfast session will be held on Friday where various stakeholders will talk to the youth.
