World class craft breweries celebrated in Bfn

The Beer Association of South Africa (BASA)hosted a Brew Routes launch in Bloemfontein. This formed part of one of the seven beer routes featured as part of BASA’s Brew Routes campaign, which is focused on showcasing the over 140 world-class craft breweries across South Africa.

According to a post made by BASA, the Free State is historically known for the annual Clarens Beer Festival which happens towards the end of February and has grown to become one of the premier events on the South African beer calendar. There are also four world class craft brew destinations situated in the province, which are showcased on the Bloemfontein Brew Routes map.

There were beer tastings at the East End brewery as well as Famous Brew & Still. There was also a beer and food pairing at the Central University of Technology’s, Free State (CUT) Hotel School.

Departments such as Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs and the Free State Gambling, Liquor and Tourism Authority welcomed the invite as part of their tourism support and development initiative.

According to BASA, Beer Tourism is a new concept around the world and the association believes that South Africa has potential to compete on a global scale.
