Workshop combines arts, entrepreneurship

Local arts organisation Infini3 calls on all poets, visual and digital artists, to apply for an opportunity that could elevate their careers. The group will be hosting a Digital Creatives Workshop where 30 artists from different parts of the Free State will come together to learn and collaborate.

According to Infini3 Founder and CEO, Roxanne Konco, more local artists need to adapt to the new digital landscape in order to keep up with an ever changing world. “Augmented reality just allows artists to create a new dimension of art by connecting the classic with the digital. We decided to include poetry to show how various art forms can create beautiful work,” she said.

The five-day event will come full circle when the artists show their collaborative pieces at the expo that will run from 27 to 28 March 2020. Konco explained that all expenses of transport, accommodation and food will be covered at no cost to the artists. The workshop will be hosted from 24 to 26 March as a joint effort with the National Arts Council.

Konco emphasised that the call is open to artists outside of Bloemfontein as well. “This is open to all Free State artists. There will be a selection process, so we request serious artists to apply and to be available for the workshop,” she said.

“The aim of this project is to take it beyond Bloemfontein to the National Arts Festival and international festivals as well. So there is a great opportunity for artists to network with the relevant people who will guide them to make their work profitable,” explained Konco.
The CEO highlighted the need for local creatives to become more entrepreneurial in their artistic work. It is for this reason that the workshop will have a both a creative and business focus.

Applications to be part of the ground-breaking workshop close on 14 February 2020. All interested artists can enter free of charge by visiting the Infini3 Facebook page or Twitter account at Infini3_za.
