Duane Petrus – A 23-year-old woman from Odendaalsrus in the Free State has been arrested for the stabbing death of her 3-year-old relative.
Police spokesperson, Molebogeng Lechesa, says the body of Karabo Nale was discovered by a shepard in an open field on Sunday with 99 stab wounds.
She was last seen on Friday with the arrested 23-year-old family member, who was looking after the deceased girl and her elder sister.
Lechesa says the police received information about the suspect’s whereabouts and arrested her last night with an okapi knife, which was allegedly used to commit the murder.
She will appear in the town’s magistrate’s court tomorrow for the murder charge.
The motive for the killing is unknown.
