Residents are reminded that Centlec (SOC) Ltd. will be implementing the winter tariffs with effect from Sunday, 1 June.
According to Centlec spokesperson, Lele Mamatu, these tariffs are in line with the National Energy Regulator of South Africa’s (Nersa) approval.
The Mangaung Executive Mayor, Gregory Nthatsi, also revealed that electricity will increase by 13.5% as applied to Nersa for the 2025/2026 period.
“The community of Mangaung is advised to ignore any fake notifications and only concentrate on the communication issued by Centlec via official channels known to the public. Anything communicated outside our normal official channels and on our letterhead and templates should be regarded as misinformation,” said Mamatu.
He further noted that electricity vendors that sell pre-paid electricity vouchers at an extra cost or fee are committing a crime and serious action will be taken against them.
Residents are encouraged to contact Centlec on its 24-hour Call Centre: (0860) 076 937.
