DUANE PETRUS – The Wilgehof teacher suspended for alleged racism briefly appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on an assault charge today.
Leonard McKay, a Grade 6 and 7 teacher at the school, is charged with the assault of a 12-year-old boy at the school.
News of McKay hanging an old apartheid flag and a picture of Julius Malema next to baboons in his classroom led to his suspension in June this year.
The trial for the assault charge against him will commence on the twenty second of August.
