Wilgehof teacher assault case postponed

DUANE PETRUS – The Wilgehof teacher suspended for alleged racism briefly appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on an assault charge today.
A parent laid the charge against Leonard McKay, a Grade 6 and 7 teacher, for allegedly assaulting his a 12-year-old boy last year.
McKay was suspended earlier this year after he allegedly hanged an old apartheid flag and a picture of Julius Malema next to one of baboons in his classroom.
The trial for the assault charge against him will commence on 5 December in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court.
