Why plumbing is so important

Plumbing is crucial in homes for hygiene purposes and for the convenience of easy access to fresh and clean water.

There is acknowledgement from many within the public health community that clean, drinkable water has likely protected more lives and extended life expectancy more than any medical advancement. Plumbing advancements continue to protect lives in developing nations.

According to the World Plumbing Council, the World Health Organisation has declared plumbers some of the most important front line health workers around the globe.

“Plumbing also harnesses a precious resource, water to use safely for health, hygiene and well-being. Plumbing makes possible the miracle of clean, convenient water, something often taken for granted,” says the council.

According to Plumbers Manufacturers International (PMI), water efficiency contributes greatly to energy savings. Less water used means less water heated and less water transported.

“Plumbing brings comfort and beauty into homes and lives. Kitchens and bathrooms not only serve functional purposes; they provide the refuge of comforting meals, soothing baths and restorative relaxation,” says PMI.

They also added that the ability of plumbing and sanitation systems to deliver clean water and remove waste has protected populations from communicable disease throughout history.

“In today’s modern society, both plumbing and plumbers are vital. Both work with water, which is perhaps our world’s greatest resource. After all, we all need water to live. And it’s not just us humans who need water, so do trees, plants, flowers, animals and bugs. Water is life!”

This is according to Brutinel Plumbing. They added that plumbing systems collect, transport and distribute water. They also help remove liquid and human waste. Plumbers work on plumbing systems, ensuring that they do their job in a safe and efficient manner.

Plumbing is vital because it harnesses water to be put to good use to supply society’s daily needs. Those plumbing pipes in your house transport water to you, keeping you healthy, clean and feeling good.
