The speedster from Bloemfontein, Stuart White, got to live his boyhood dream on the weekend by competing in the 24 Hours of Spa at the iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. Not only did White get to race in the world’s biggest GT endurance race, but he also earned a podium along with his co-drivers for the Switzerland-based Emil Frey racing team.

Driving in a Lamborghini Huracan, the 20-year-old White, as well as Tuomas Tujula and Konsta Lappalainen, claimed third overall in the silver class to earn a podium finish.
White told Bloemfontein Courant that their fight for a top two finish, came undone by a puncture during the final hour of the race but getting a podium is a dream come true.

“As the saying goes a lot can happen in a day but try racing for a day and you will get the true meaning of it,” said White.

“The feeling of getting my maiden podium in a GT World Challenge at the biggest and most gruelling GT race in the world, is something that will stay with me forever!
“We were fighting in the Top 12 Overall for a long time in the race, and for the win in the Silver Cup category, but unfortunately a puncture in the final hour cost us the chance of a Top 2 result!

“I am still extremely happy with the podium as getting a podium at Spa 24-Hour is something I could only dream of while growing up and to achieve it is something that I am extremely proud of.

“Being part of an elite group of people, like Lamborghini Squadra Corse and Emil Frey Racing, is a great honour for me and I can’t thank everyone enough who put me in this position to live my childhood dream.” – MORGAN PIEK
