When the burden is too heavy

When Moses led the Israelites on a journey that was supposed to be short, the burden of being responsible for all of them became a bit too much. “I am not able to carry all these people alone, because the burden is too heavy for me.” (Numbers 11:14 Amp) So many times I find the atmosphere around certain people to be one of a heavy cloud. It is almost as if you can see the invisible cargo tied to their backs. This burden they carry around is normally due to the everyday stress they have to deal with. The majority of people have a huge problem saying no. They feel a responsibility to please everyone. Unfortunately it usually leads to everyone else being happy except you. Our inner need to have the approval of those around us leads to unrealistic expectations of what we should accomplish. The perception that this will make us happy is a false one as we end up with a lot of unnecessary pressure and stress. As soon as we experience that the burden is too heavy we need to hand it to God and allow Him to show us how to lighten this burden. This remains a choice, however, and one only you and I can make.
