Duane Petrus – A well-known local comedian was amongst the scores of festival-goers who were arrested for various offences during the Mangaung Arts and Cultural Festival (Macufe) in Bloemfontein this past weekend.
Free State police spokesperson, Chaka Marope, says the celebrity was arrested for drinking in public and resisting arrest.
He says the man refused to provide his details to police, but some of the arresting officers recognised him from the big screen.
He has appeared in a number of prominent South African films.
Marope says more than 100 arrests, related to Macufe, were made over the weekend for various crimes including possession of dangerous weapons, road traffic offences, liquor related offences and common robberies.
The actor is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein magistrate court today.
