Weather warnings issued for Central SA

A warning for severe thunderstorms has been issued by the South African Weather Service for the Northern Cape, North West and the Free State for Wednesday and Thursday.

Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela says an impact-based warning has been issued, which includes a possibility of localised flooding.

“We have an impact-based warning of yellow level two that will be for severe thunderstorms with a potential of localised flooding and strong winds which can occur over the north-eastern part of the Northern Cape, the western part of the North West, and the north-western parts of the Free State.

“The current storms do not exclude Gauteng from having downfalls resulting in flooding.”

Gauteng residents can expect a 60% chance of scattered thunderstorms and showers which will result in heavy rainfall.
