“So, it’s really exciting times for us that we can call upon players of that calibre, even though they’re new to international scene, but we’ve seen what they can do around the world.”
The Proteas are resting their big guns for the three-match T20 International series and it’s an ideal opportunity to unleash the young and exciting next generation.
These include Gerald Coetzee, Matthew Breetzke, Dewald Brevis, Donovan Ferreira and Tristan Stubbs. Coetzee and Stubbs have already represented South Africa at various levels of senior international cricket.
The seasoned spinner, Tabraiz Shamsi, said it’s exciting to have fresh faces in the setup.
“It’s very, very exciting and we don’t see them as new or junior guys coming into the squad,” said the seasoned spinner.
“If you look at the names that have come in, anyone of those guys is equally capable winning a game or two for us single handily.
