Water restrictions for Bloemfontein still awaited

Owen Kock

Bloemfontein. – A delayed report from Bloemwater to the Mangaung Metro, could mean Bloemfontein and surrounds might be without water sooner than expected.

Water restrictions that were due to be enforced at the beginning of July, as per Government Gazette, has not been implemented yet. Last week the Metro said the issue would be discussed at this morning’s council meeting, but it was however not on today’s agenda.

Executive Mayor Thabo Manyoni says he has been in contact with the Department of Water Affairs as well as Bloemwater, for an explanation on the matter and where exactly the problem lies.

"This municipality is paying Bloemwater no less than R50 million a month and as a client of that agency we expect them to give us qauality service. I have humbly requested council to allow that process to take place so that you can also be able to say, at least the service that you are paying for as Mangaung ois a service that you are happy with," Manyoni added.
