Waste collection ‘soon back on track’

In recent months waste collection has become a thorny issue for residents of the City of Roses, but the Mangaung Metro Municipality says it has plans in place to address the backlog.

Qondile Khedama, the municipality’s GM: Communications, says in a statement the city has encountered a delay on waste collection, especially for households and businesses that are on the Wednesday schedule.

“The city’s fleet directorate has augmented its team by involving SMMEs, and we hope that by Saturday the backlog would have been attended to.

“We would like to assure residents of Mangaung that the matter is receiving attention. As the municipality, we remain committed to providing our community with basic services and ensuring that our city is clean and habitable,” says Khedama.

The municipality offers its apology for any inconvenience that the delay might have caused and assures residents of Mangaung that they will be updated if there is any issues regarding waste collection.
