The husband of the public radio broadcaster of Lesedi FM’s current affairs, Dimakatso Ratselane, has now been declared a suspect running from the law.
Free State police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says this after several failed attempts to get into contact with the suspect, Mackenzie Ratselane, in relation to the brutal attack on the popular presenter. He says Mackenzie is the last person to have been with Dimakatso before she was discovered lying in a pool of blood in the Caleb Motshabi informal settlement known as Dinaweng near a popular local tavern.
Dimakatso was found with multiple stab wounds in the early morning on Thursday 11 February 2021 and was rushed to Pelonomi Netcare Hospital after residents and friends called the police to the scene. Makhele adds that Mackenzie will now be treated as a suspect by any law-enforcement officer who come across him anywhere within and outside the borders of this country.
Earlier, following news about the attack, social media users alleged that Mackenzie had fled to the neighbouring country of Lesotho.
Makhele says the police believe that Mackenzie has a serious case of attempted murder to answer to.
“The police took the investigation to another level and obtained a Warrant of Arrest. We, therefore, appeal to anyone who might come across him to contact the head of the investigating team, Captain Paseka Mojaki, on 082 553 7639 or call the Crime Stop number, 08600 10111. Information can also be anonymously shared via the MySAPS App, Makhele further adds. Dimakatso and Mackenzie are thought to have quarrelled on their way to fetch her children in Phase 2.
