Free State MEC, Dr Benny Malakoane, will be launching different health programmes in various towns around the province every week.
Malakoane says the programmes are part of the national service delivery. The mother and child health services road show was launched today at Boitumelo Hospital in Kroonstad. Malakoane visited maternity, postnatal, neonatal and paediatric wards. He also addressed the workers on issues regarding the importance of caring for mothers and protecting the children.
“In terms of maternal and child health, we discuss what has to be done in maternal programmes to avoid unnecessary deaths. We also focus on programmes relating to management of childhood development. This is to prevent neonatel and children under five from dying prematurely,” he says.
Malakoane says next week Monday he will be at Oranjeville for the School Health programme.
