V-Models in Bloemfontein has made it big in the national Pageants SA competition where four out of five contestants won national and provincial titles. The winners were chosen virtually on Sunday 23 August 2020.
Arthur Browne, managing director of Pageants SA, told Bloemfontein Courant that the pageant could unfortunately not take place. It was supposed to be held in Pretoria but was postponed due to the lockdown. It was impossible to postpone it again, so they decided to host a virtual show.
Four contestants made the Free State proud and obtained a number of titles. Uniko Mbalula (9) is the provincial winner of Miss Pre Teen SA as well as Photo model SA. Adirah Charles (6) is the Provincial winner of Miss Tiny SA as well as Miss Tiny Earth SA. Jazlyn Ludick (17) is the Provincial Miss Junior teen SA winner. Serena Donachie (18) won the Face of SA title, which means she received the most votes nationally. Donachie did not only one win one title, but four, which include the most photogenic mode, the provincial winner for Miss Junior SA and Miss Junior Princess of the Globe.
Last but not least,
Tony Thokwane (21), who won Mr Junior SA nationally, is also a runway model award winner.
All the title holders have qualified to represent South Africa at the International Pageant Competition in 2021.
Browne said that the contestants were required to have three outfits: casual, an interview outfit as well as evening wear. They then had to have pictures taken
and sent to the judges. Their interviews were conducted via a zoom video call and winners were accordingly determined.
He added that the contestants worked really hard for this achievement despite limited resources because of lockdown. “The contestants, now title holders,
were and are still involved in numerous charity work operations and will have to continue to do so to honour their titles
and communities,” Browne concluded. He expressed that he is extremely proud of the winners, especially for flying the Free State flag high.
