A 38-year-old male was arrested earlier today in connection with the murder of an unidentified man whose body was discovered at Joe Solomon Primary School in Heidedal earlier this morning. According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Ikobeng Hlubi, the suspect was arrested at a local hospital by Heidedal Police when he went to get stitches for a wound.
The 22-year-old’s body was discovered behind a pile of bricks at around 4 am at the school. According to a witness, the deceased was chased by two males who were driving a kombi when he jumped over the fence of the school. His lifeless body was later discovered with a stab wound in the upper right eye. He was declared dead on the scene.
The school, which is currently a construction site due to the rebuilding/upgrading of the premises has been closed since 2018 and in an interview with the site project manager, Maurice Baartman, they do have the required security as they are continuing with the project.
