An inquest docket has been opened and a case is under investigation after an unknown female was found dead in a room at a guesthouse in Parkwest, Bloemfontein.
Circumstances that led to her passing are still being investigated and will be clear after the post-mortem.
According to a statement by SAPS, she arrived at the guesthouse on Thursday last week. She was alone and requested to rest.
When asked, she allegedly informed the guesthouse staff that she was from Kroonstad and was heading to a funeral in Eastern Cape, together with other people.
The deceased had no form of identity with her and no luggage. She was wearing a floral pink dress with a multi-coloured head wrap.
The statement further reads that when the cleaning staff knocked on her rented room on Friday, they discovered that something was wrong. Police and emergency services were called to the scene and she was declared dead at the scene.
The SAPS is requesting help to identify the female, who is about 39 years old.
Park Road Police are pleading to anyone who might know the female or have information to contact Detective-Sergeant Diphapang Seale on 083 950 1672 or 08600 10111.
This comes just less than a month after members of the Bainsvlei Police Station had been looking for the 60-year-old Sydney James Cooper, whose body was later found at a Bloemfontein guesthouse.–
