Universitas Hospital Set To Launch Gastroscope Unit worth R7million

The cash-strapped Free State Department of Health, in collaboration with the controversial Universitas Academic Hospital, will be launching an upgraded, state of the art digital Gastroscope Unit.

The cost of this new equipment in the unit is estimated at R7 million. This world class equipment is aimed to improve service delivery and training capabilities in gastroscopies, colonoscopies, and other intestinal procedures.

This new equipment will not only diagnose diseases but also assist in treating and curing patients. The MEC for Health, Butana Komphela, has hailed the launch of this upgraded unit as an advancement in the medical profession.

Komphela also added that this will advance the Universitas Academic Hospital to greater heights of service excellence.

The Free State Department of Health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, said this unit was a first for the public sector in central South Africa.

Universitas’ spokesperson, Joanne Ranyane, could not be reached for further comment with regard to details of the unit’s upgrade.

The launch is set to take place tomorrow at the hospital’s ground floor between 12h00 and 14h00.
