With the group stage of the under-19 Cricket World Cup drawing to a close, hosts South Africa look to secure their Super Six playoff spot with a win over Scotland in Potchefstroom. Group B is hotly contested, with unbeaten England facing off against the West Indies, who are in second place in the group, at Senwes Park.
The top three teams of each group qualify for the Super Six round of the 2024 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, and in Group B, it looks most likely to be the current top three – England, West Indies, and South Africa – to march on in the tournament.
Jewel Andrew has been a gem for the West Indies after he followed his 130 (from 96 balls) – in his side’s ultimately unsuccessful run chase against the host nation – with an unbeaten 64 off 60 balls to secure victory over Scotland. England on the other hand are yet to taste defeat.
England’s northern neighbour are still without a point going into their final group game against the junior Proteas on Saturday 27 January.
Super Six matches start on Tuesday 30 January and the host nation will hope to be in the playoff pot and push for their second U19 CWC title, having won it in Dubai in 2014.
