It remains unclear when will Trompsburg Hospital start operating.
After several attempts it seems the Free State Department of Public Works seem to be dodging the matter. Public Works’ spokesperson Winkie Direko, vaguely explains that they are an implementing agent in the execution of infrastructure projects on behalf of the Department of Health. Direko said the Trompsburg Hospital project will be handed over to the department of health, as upon practical completion.
Trompsburg Hospital was built in 2011 and public works reported last year that the hospital will officially be opened September 2013.
Earlier this month the provincial legislature committee’s chairperson Lucy Mapena said they visited the hospital and there was no one who could provide proper answers on when the hospital will be handed over to the Department of Health. Trompsburg Hospital remains a white elephant.
