A pipe leak on the main line near Uitkyk Reservoir is expected to be attended to later today after it was discovered on Sunday. However, the Metro assures residents that Bloem Water will avoid water interruptions as far as possible.

Mangaung Metro Municipality spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, explained that the Bloem Water Operations and Maintenance team will attend to the leak from 23:00 on Monday 2 December 2019.

“We were informed that the Bloem Water Operations and Maintenance team has discovered a pipe leak on the main line near Uitkyk Reservoir. The leak must be repaired urgently to prevent the pipe from bursting,” he said.

“The duration of the repair is expected to be 36 hours and work should be concluded latest by Wednesday evening,” added Khedama.

Water tankers will be deployed to any affected areas should the need arise. “Bloem Water has assured the city that they will ensure that all reservoirs are fully capacitated to avoid water interruptions. Mangaung Metro would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused,” said Khedama. –
