UFS launches official investigation amidst alleged racial slur

The University of the Free State has officially launched a formal investigation in regards to the racial slur incident that took place on 14 September 2023.

The racial slur incident allegedly happened during a practical session of first-year students. It is alleged that one student levelled a racial slur to another student.

According to the statement released by the university, the university views the matter in a very serious light and has launched an urgent and formal investigation into the matter.

“The UFS condemns any form of racial actions from its students and staff and will act decisively if any of these actions speak against the values of the university.”
