Two suspects arrested for possession of illegal firearm

The Free State police in Phuthaditjhaba conducted a search operation which resulted in two suspects being arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and dealing in drugs.

According to Free State police spokesperson, Mmako Mophiring, they acted on information they received about certain residents having an illegal firearm.

“The information was followed up and upon the police’s arrival at the identified house, two people were found. They searched the house and found a firearm hidden inside the wardrobe, a 9mm pistol with a magazine without bullets. On further search, police found 50 plastic sachets containing rock, 76 of CAT, and eight of Mandrax drugs with an estimated street value of R9,000,” Mophiring said.

The two suspects, aged between 27 and 38, are expected to appear in court today on possession of an unlicensed firearm and drug dealing charges.
