The Free State police in Bloemfontein have arrested two suspects in connection with the possession and manufacturing of fraudulent official documents.
According to Free State police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli, the incident unfolded yesterday (23/10) when a 51-year-old man visited the Thabure SAPS station in Central Park to certify a driver’s license.
“Upon inspecting the document, a vigilant SAPS member suspected it to be fraudulent. The Traffic Department and Law Enforcement were immediately contacted, and they subsequently verified that the driver’s license was indeed fraudulent,” Kareli explained.
Further questioning of the man led police to a farm along the N6, where the suspects were allegedly producing fraudulent licenses.
“A search of the location resulted in the discovery of fraudulent materials, including completed application forms for driver’s licenses, numerous fraudulent temporary licenses, and counterfeit vehicle license discs for various vehicles,” Kareli added.
Both suspects, aged 50 and 51, were immediately arrested and are expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon. They face charges of possession of fraudulent documents, fraud, forgery, and uttering.
