Two most wanted suspects arrested in FS

The two most wanted suspects in the Free State are behind bars after an intelligence driven operation by the Fezile Dabi Trio Task Team led to their arrest on 30 and 31 August 2021.

On 30 August the police followed information which led to the arrest of Molefi Godfrey Kau in Maokeng. 30-year-old Kau served 10 years for business robbery and is currently out on parole.

According to police spokesperson, Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, the suspect was found in possession of three unlicensed firearms and ammunition. “Investigations revealed that this suspect has been on the loose and was linked to business robberies that occurred in Viljoenskroon,” said Makhele.

Kau appeared in the Kroonstad Magistrate’s Court on 1 September 2021 on charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The second arrest was made on 31 August 2021 when the task team found a suspect at a house in Khaya Section, Rammolutsi Viljoenskroon.

“The 32-year-old suspect was arrested and the house was searched, after which the police found cell phones, cash and airtime vouchers. Upon further investigation the task team members went to another house at Khaya Section, Rammolutsi in Viljoenskroon where the suspect hid a firearm in his garden. This finding was linked to a registered Viljoenskroon case of rape, assault and theft of a state firearm, which occurred on 13 August 2021,” said Makhele.

The suspect appeared in the Viljoenskroon Magistrate’s Court today on charges of rape, assault and theft of a state firearm.

Both suspects will also be held liable by the Department of Correctional Services for contravention of their parole conditions.
