A second suspect has been apprehended in connection with the cash-in-transit heist that took place at the Engen Garage in Bloemfontein.

Hawks spokesperson, Hangwani Malaudzi, told OFM News the matter is now under investigation by the Hawks. More arrests are expected to be made.

The first suspect who was arrested was found to be driving ANC Deputy Chairperson William Bulwane’s BMW X5. The suspicious vehicle was stopped after the heist and police found a pistol, R5 rifle, rifle magazines and an undisclosed amount of money in the car. The car was also driving without licence plates. ANC spokesperson, Thabo Meeko, told OFM News Bulwane took his car to a panel-beater for repairs following an accident in May. The ANC has since distanced itself from reports that Bulwane is linked to the robbery.

At this stage, authorities are also still looking for the Golf 6 that was involved in the heist. Both suspects are expected to appear in court today.
