Police in Welkom are searching for two men after they allegedly robbed a female victim at her residential place. Police have been searching for the alleged robbers for more than 5 months now, however no arrests have been made.
According to police, on 24 May 2019 at 10:30, a 29-year-old female victim was resting at her home in Somerset Street, Dagbreek, lying on her bed when suddenly she heard two people talking inside the house. The duo was armed with firearm and knife. They pointed the firearm at her and threatened to kill her if she made any noise. Both her feet and arms were tied up with a cell phone charger cable and her mouth closed with her bra, her face was covered with her blanket.
Her house was ransacked and one of the suspects asked her where her money and jewellery were. It is believed that the suspects were driving a motor vehicle as the victim heard the sound of a motor vehicle when they left. After they left she went outside to ask for help, with her hands and feet still tied up and her bra still forced into her mouth.
Apparently suspects gained entrance through bending a burglar bar of the window and the main door was forced open.
An identikit of one of the two suspects was compiled to assist with investigation. He is about 1.5 metres tall, slender, medium complexion and spoke in Sesotho.
Anyone who might know the suspects or their whereabouts can contact Detective Sergeant Tseliso Nthaba of the Welkom Cluster Trio Task Team at 057- 391-6245 during office hours or his cell-phone at 071-411-8251.
