Bloemfontein. – Discrepancies in the statements which convicted Trompsburg-murderer, Moeketsi Hlaasa, took down after killing an elderly couple, are being discussed in the Free State High court.
Hlaasa is currently being cross-examined by Dawie Reyneke, who represents one of the remaining accused, Nkululeko Mvumvu. Mvumvu and Phineas Mothibi are being tried for the brutal murder of Johan and Cecile Fourie on their farm outside Trompsburg last year.
Hlaasa was sentenced on Tuesday, and is now testifying against his co-accused. Reyneke is accusing Hlaasa of modifying his statements as he sees fit. Mvumvu alleges that he was with his ill mother on 9 September – the day the murders were committed.
The trial continues.
