Trial date set for import and export fraud accused

Duane Petrus – A trial date has been set aside for a case involving Bloemfontein woman who is accused of millions of rands of fraud conducted in the import and export business.

Lianné Greyling, who is facing 25 fraud charges, appeared in the city’s magistrate court today.

Her trial was initially set to commence in July, but it had to be postponed after she changed her plea from guilty to innocent.

She alleged that she did not admit to some of the charges out of her free will and that she was coerced into admitting guilt.

She also previously succeeded in an appeal against Legal AID SA’s decision not to provide her free representation.

Her next court appearance is scheduled to take place on 25 September and she is set to go on trial from 21 to 23 January 2015.
