This year commemorates the 67th Anniversary of the march when approximately 20 000 women marched to the Union Buildings, petitioning against pass laws.

Women’s Month honours women characterised by strength, substance, and their contributions to the liberation struggle. To mark this occasion, the Free State Provincial Treasury, in collaboration with Virgin Active and the departmental Gender Forum, will host a Women’s Day commemorative event. This event aims to rejuvenate the pivotal role of women within the Provincial Treasury in driving transformative change.

The event’s objective is to urgently address and foster a transformative women’s agenda. Central to this agenda is the restoration of women’s and human dignity, which encompasses concerns like family dynamics, inter-generational healing, economic empowerment, and broader challenges faced by women.

The purpose of this event is to explore an urgent and transformational women’s agenda with a focus on the restoration of women’s and human dignity, including looking at the issue of the family, inter-generational healing, economic transformation, and issues affecting women at large.

The event will take place on Friday 25 August at 08:30 and will be hosted at Ilanga Estate.
