Free State Cycling are geared and ready to host the top mountain bikers in South Africa this weekend during the second leg of SA XCO Cup.
Cross-country mountain biking is an Olympic discipline and the elites will want to use this event to impress ahead of the 2024 Summer Games in Paris.
It’s not just the elites that will be in action but all age groups from the under-14 sub juniors to the grand masters from South Africa and further afield.
The race organiser, Keith Wilson, told OFM Sport that the Happy Valley track is in superb condition.
“Free State Cycling are extremely excited to be hosting the second leg of the SA XCO Mountain Bike Cup at Happy Valley this coming weekend,” said Wilson.
“Cross-country is an Olympic discipline in mountain biking and therefore is also very spectator friendly.
“The best riders in the country will be participating from the age groups under-14, which is your sub juniors all the way through to the grand masters. All the best pro or elite riders will also be there on the day, so you will be able to see the best in action.
“The track is looking amazing thanks to the hard work by Gerhard Moelich and his team and the riders from all over the country love to ride at Happy Valley. This is a challenging course, but it is well groomed and I think that this is the best the track has ever looked.
The action at Happy Valley gets underway at 9:00 on Saturday morning.
