One of the greatest life experiences happened to Enid Greenland in her winter years. The 82-year-old recently had a lifelong dream come true when she literally took part in a glider flight. The adrenalin-filled granny flew and flipped in a glider at the Tempe Gliding Base, surrounded by her loving family who had organised it all for her. Greenland will turn 83 in August and says she never thought that she would ever take off in a glider.
Greenland, a former housewife, enjoyed the adrenalin rush and appreciates the surprise her children had planned for her. She says “yes, I will do it again!”. The daring grandmother urges other elderly people to continue having dreams and to never stop living just because they are old or stay at old-age homes. ”If you can try new things, why not. Do things while you still have the chance and are still capable to do them,” says this fun-loving granny. Greenland really enjoyed the thrill and the adrenalin rush she got from taking part in her first glider flight in her old age. ”It was beyond awesome, it was wonderful,” she explains.
She says she has flown a lot in her life and although flying and flipping with a glider has been a dream for a long time she really didn’t think that she would get an opportunity to get into a glider. If you dare to dream it could become a reality and you are only as old as you feel are common clichés used loosely. But they prove to be true for Enid Greenland of Bayswater.
