The General Assembly decided that 20 June would be celebrated as World Refugee Day. This day is celebrated worldwide in several countries in different ways. It is a special day for the world to make time for the resilience of forcibly displayed people to the entire world.
The United National Commissioner of Refugees (UNHCR) campaign for 2014 will continue to emphasize the impact of war on families by allowing individuals to share their stories about life of living in a new country. It will also allow the public to view refugee experience through different experiences from people close to their home.
The aims of celebrating this day is to remind the public that we should extend refugees the same kind of welcome we would like to receive if we were in their position.
