To the end of an era and the beginning of a new one

Grey College has become an entity as true to Bloemfontein as Naval Hill, the Women’s Memorial and Mystic Boer. Grey has served Bloemfontein, the Free State, South Africa and the world well over the past 150 years. And now as one era comes to an end a new one with new prosperities lays ahead, Bloemfontein Courant would like to take the opportunity to say farewell to a formidable man and principal, Johan Volsteedt. We would also like to welcome Deon Scheepers, who will be taking over from Volsteedt next year. Grey has been able to make adjustments and remain relevant in a changing environment in which it has developed, grown and excelled. The brand is known and revered throughout South Africa and even internationally and the products of the school make a positive difference wherever they are. Parallel medium education, tolerance, respect for others and loyalty to the school are not only traditions, but firm foundations in a global village. Grey is structured on these foundations and it is constantly adapting to new developments. The wave of change washing over our country confirms the value of Grey’s traditions. Bloemfontein Courant is also inviting all its readers to leave their messages for these two principals on our website. Leave your message of farewell to Mr Volsteedt or to welcome Mr Scheepers below.
