The 26th of September 2021 will witness the rebirth of Bloemfontein’s Jazz on the Lawn (JOTL). After the temporary closure of the event due to the covid-19 pandemic, they are making a comeback with a new venue.

“If you are looking for great music, great food and great company, Makarios Country Lodge is the place to be on Sunday, 26 September,” said Lesley Jennings, founder of Gig Culture and producer of JOTL.

Jennings explained that all their productions are about creating an environment in which audiences and creatives can connect and after exploring a couple of venues post lock down, they felt Makarios is a wonderful outdoor space with beautiful and peaceful aesthetic that truly captures the essence of the event.

“I am most looking forward to being able to enjoy live music again,” she added. Jennings also believes that people really took for granted the experience of live music and the energy that is created by a live music performance. And more than anything, she cannot wait to share this with the people again. “It is long overdue!”

Jennings further explained that they would like to host JOTL on a monthly basis, this will entirely depend on the regulations of Covid-19. “As a professional events company, we do not operate outside of the regulations. We encourage all patrons to abide by the regulations and to get vaccinated as soon as possible to bring us closer to the herd immunity we need to open up social gatherings again.”

She told Bloemfontein Courant that people can look forward to the finest live entertainment Bloemfontein and South Africa have to offer.

“The Mshengu project headed by Lally Tshabalala will be visiting from Johannesburg (JHB). The project includes a lineup of SA’s incredible young instrumentalists,” Jennings added. Once again, the event will see the return of the bassist, Spanish Fly, certainly no stranger to the JOTL stage.

“And our very favorite musical host: SOULÉ. Keeping you in the loop of the program will be Thobby, a true Gig Culture ambassador! There will be good food, good people and good vibes from 12pm – 8pm,” she concluded.

Tickets are sold through Web Tickets, they can be purchased online or at any Pick n Pay. Feel free to contact Lesley Jennings for support in acquiring tickets on WhatsApp 0733009967.
