The South African Local Government Association in the Northern Cape says only three municipalities’ audit outcomes regressed in the last financial year.
Salga’s provincial chairperson, Willie Johnson says they welcome the national audit outcome. He says five municipalities improved with their audit outcome. Johnson adds that 28 of the 32 municipalities managed to submit their financial statements deadline which represented significant improvement.
“There are thirteen leaderships that have received disclaimers of audit outcomes which is very concerning and as Salga we are going to have a hand on support to those municipalities. We will ensure that we develop an action plan that must be implemented to improve the audit outcomes in the next financial year,” he said.
Johnson congratulated the Zf Mgcawu Municipality District for receiving a clean audit outcome.
