Paramedics have confirmed that three people tragically lost their lives in a collision between two vehicles on the N1 north about 45km outside Bloemfontein this morning.
ER 24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing told Courant when paramedics arrived on the scene, they found one vehicle lying on its roof. The second vehicle had veered off the road.
"Three people were trapped in the vehicle that veered off the road. Unfortunately they sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead on the scene. Fire and Rescue Services were on scene to extricate them from the vehicle," Bodasing said.
Two people were treated and transported to the Pelonomi Hospital’s Trauma Unit for further medical care after sustaining serious injuries.
The exact cause of the collision is unknown. Authorities were on scene for further investigation.
This follows after a man and woman were killed when two bakkies collided on the R26 between Reitz and Tweeling on Thursday night. The woman had to be cut from the wreckage of her bakkie. She died at a local hospital. Another two people sustained moderate injuries.
