Three people died and at least four others were injured in a collision between two cars on the N8 in Mandela View in Bloemfontein on Saturday night, Free State paramedics said.
ER24 paramedics and other services attended to the incident, ER24 spokeswoman, Chitra Bodasing-Harduth, explained.
Upon arrival, paramedics found some of the patients trapped in the vehicles. Fire and rescue was on the scene to extricate the patients.
“Sadly three patients were declared dead. Others sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical. Injured patients were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.”
The cause of the crash was unknown but authorities were on the scene to investigate, Bodasing-Harduth said.
