Three dead in FS collisions this weekend so far

Three people have lost their lives in separate collisions on Free State roads this weekend, so far.

The most recent of these fatal accidents occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning on the R 26 between Bethlehem and Fouriesburg.

Sipho Towa from the Free State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) tells OFM News, paramedics arrived at the accident scene at 02:55 where two vehicles – a white Volkswagen Citi Golf and a white Toyota Corolla – had collided head-on, killing two people.

One person is in a critical condition, while three others sustained injuries ranging from moderate to minor and were transported to the Phekolong and Dihlabeng Hospitals in Bethlehem respectively.

On Friday, an accident was reported, on the notorious N8 road as you pass Sannaspos, heading to Thaba’Nchu. One person died and four others were taken to hospital for varied injuries.

The details surrounding the accident are unclear, but Towa did confirm such an incident was reported.

On Saturday one lane on Dr Belcher Road in Bloemfontein, not far from Lemo Mall was obstructed following an accident, between a vehicle and a motorcycle.

The OFM News team was at the scene where law enforcement officials were present and the biker appeared to have sustained some injuries to his right leg. Provincial EMS is yet to confirm the incident.
