Free State Emergency Medical Service (EMS) confirmed two people sustained moderate injuries and one was declared dead on the scene when a vehicle overturned on the N1 between Winburg and Verkeerdevlei on Saturday afternoon.

In the same accident one person was found trapped and critically injured, which led the EMS to air lift them to Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein.

In another separate accident on the same day, two people lost their lives and one was injured when a light motor vehicle drove into a trailer of a truck on the on R26 just a few kilometres outside of Clocolan in the direction of Ficksburg.
