The Hawks in the Free State are on a manhunt for three gun-wielding men who robbed a Fidelity Cash Solutions vehicle, which is part of the Fidelity Services Group, in Welkom on Tuesday.
OFM News reports that Hawks provincial spokesperson, Christopher Singo, says three unknown suspects robbed the Fidelity cash van of an undisclosed amount of cash and firearms belonging to the security personnel. These gun-wielding men drove off with a silver Mercedes Benz after they robbed the van and its security officers at a local business in Welkom in the Free State, between 10:00 and 11:00. Singo says no-one was injured in the incident and the matter is under investigation. “Some of the information we cannot disclose as we are still investigating the matter,” he adds.
OFM News previously reported of four gun-wielding men who robbed a local bank in Welkom of an undisclosed amount of money in November 2020. Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, said the four gained entrance through the dedicated door for business banking clients and the assailants allegedly continued to rob the bankers at gunpoint and took bags containing an undisclosed amount of cash that was set to be deposited by clients.
Makhele added that the four fled the scene in a new, black BMW with registration number DDY111FS. A manhunt for the suspects was launched by the police in the area.
