Thirteen suspects arrested following farm attack

Thirteen suspects have been arrested in connection with a brutal farm attack in Heilbron on Saturday morning (01/11).

According to Free State police spokesperson, Lorraine Earle, the incident left one farm worker dead and his wife sexually assaulted. Following the report of the attack, police launched an intensive manhunt with the assistance of the local farming community, private security partners, and other stakeholders.

“Within hours, thirteen suspects — eleven men and two women — were traced and arrested. During the operation, police also recovered twenty-two (22) stolen sheep, a firearm, a minibus, and various household items,” Earle confirmed.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Heilbron Magistrate’s Court soon on charges including murder, attempted murder, rape, robbery, and stock theft.
