The great awakening

Brenda Myburgh

As I prepared a short piece for Christmas, I studied the relationship between Jesus and the family of Lazarus. Jesus spent time with them, Martha always serving and Mary sitting at His feet. Lazarus, their brother, dies and Jesus is not there when this happens. Jesus arrives at the place where he was buried and He is touched by the sadness of those who loved Lazarus. We see Jesus weeping when He sees their lack of faith. I was reminded that Jesus weeps for us. In times when we are sad or experience pain, He is the one who understands what we are going through on earth. "…He shouted with a loud voice, Lazarus, come out! And out walked the man who had been dead…" John 11:43/44(Amplified). As Jesus commanded Lazarus to rise from the dead, He commands us to get out of our spiritual death. Lazarus had been dead for four days and had already started to decay. Maybe your life has started to decay and you think revival is impossible. Just as Jesus told them to remove the burial cloth from Lazarus, He will remove your old rags. There will be a great awakening within you and a new life will be waiting.
Blessings
