The dismissal of a Bfn headmaster comes as a shock

The legal team of a Bloemfontein headmaster who was dismissed from his position by die Free State Department of Education yesterday, after he was found guilty on two charges of poor or inadequate performance is disappointed with the overall outcome.

According to Marius van Rensburg, who is representing the headmaster of Wilgehof Primary, Fanie Roeloffze, it doesn’t make sense that an educator is dismissed for misconduct of this nature.

Roeloffze was found quality by the department last month because he did not act to have the old South African flag and so called offensive photos of monkeys and Julius Malema removed from a classroom at the school last year. Van Rensburg says it is a harsh sentence which instils a sense of shock.

He maintains his client’s innocence and says the matter doesn’t end here. Van Rensburg says they intend appealing the department’s decision.
